Men, AI, and the Future of Work: A Path to Success
In today's rapidly evolving job market, the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation is transforming industries and reshaping the workforce. If you're a man concerned about the potential loss of your job due to AI adoption, you're not alone. The good news is that you can take proactive steps to stay ahead of the curve, equip yourself with valuable skills, and potentially change your life for the better. In this blog post, we'll provide you with essential advice and actionable steps to navigate this transformative era. Do not miss out on this revolution. This is the chance of a lifetime, and if you do not embrace it by learning everything you can, you will be left behind to work the jobs that are not so easy.
1. Embrace Lifelong Learning
The power of continuous education cannot be understated. Every great leader in history was an avid scholar. They read about past leaders, conquerors, and tales of history so they could learn and improve. We must keep learning or risk being left behind by the rapid development of new technologies and ideas.
The key to thriving in an AI-driven world is continuous learning. Dedicate time each week to expand your knowledge and skill set. Consider enrolling in online courses, attending workshops, or pursuing certifications related to AI, machine learning, data analysis, and programming. You can even log onto sites like Udemy, and Skillshare, or even sign up for courses with accredited schools like MIT, or go through Microsoft’s new course. Find things that can give you some sort of certificate, that way you have proof of knowledge. Whatever you do, become a sponge for learning everything you can.
2. Invest in Your Future
Saving for upskilling is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. Warren Buffett, one of the richest men in the world, famously said “The more you learn, the more you’ll earn.”
Financial planning is crucial when preparing for a career transition. Create a budget and start saving for education and training. Stash away as much as you can, we recommend 20% if possible. This money should be divided between learning and investing in assets that give you a return on your money financially. Consider setting up an emergency fund to provide a financial safety net during the learning process. You don’t need much to get started, just start.

3. Make the Most of Your Free Time
Utilizing your off-hours is the most underrated piece of advice we can give you. Your time is the most precious commodity that all humans have. Spending it wisely is one of the hardest things to do because spending it recklessly is one of the easiest things to do.
Evenings and weekends can be precious opportunities for skill development. Dedicate your free time to online courses, coding exercises, or AI-related side projects. Consistency is key to mastering new skills. Learning to pick and choose what exciting things you are going to miss, like Aunt Karen’s 62nd birthday, is a skill you will have to hone. Most of us work 9-5, Monday-Friday. This leaves two days a week free, and evenings. Learn to schedule some time blocks during those hours, and make sure the work you are doing is focused and undisturbed.
- [ ] Put your devices on silent or Do Not Disturb.
- [ ] Clear your desk/workspace of clutter and distractions.
- [ ] Do not check email or mindlessly scroll the web.
- [ ] Set a clear goal for the time dedicated to work.
- [ ] Work for 10-15 minutes, then take a 5-minute break before getting back to it.
- [ ] Make sure you are not hungry or thirsty. If needed, bring snacks and water to your desk.
- [ ] If you cannot complete it all at one time, make sure you come back to it later or the next day. Stay consistent.
4. Networking and Collaboration
Building a strong professional network at this stage is well worth it, and can really set you apart from the rest of the pack. “Your Network Is Your Net Worth” by Porter Gale gives wonderful insights into the power of the “network” if you would like to gain some insights.
Some key ideas are that you need to connect with like-minded individuals, both online and offline, who are also interested in AI and its applications. Join AI communities, attend conferences, and collaborate on AI projects to gain valuable experience and insights.
Working with individuals who are learning and growing in the same field as you can open up many doors of opportunities, help you learn things that you may be struggling with, and give you a group that will help you along your journey.
5. Seek Guidance and Mentorship
Learning from experienced AI professionals will catapult your knowledge way faster than doing it on your own. The professionals have already learned the basics, gotten through the BS that is irrelevant and can point you towards the things you really need to know.
Find a mentor or coach who is well-versed in AI. Their guidance and expertise can accelerate your learning journey and help you make informed career decisions. They can point you towards resources that helped them, give you valuable insights, steer you clear of things you don’t need, and shortcut the process.
A good mentor will have the following qualities:
- Optimistic (realistically).
- Ask lots of questions about you, but also make sure to provide answers to your questions.
- They seem to have your best interests at heart.
- They recommend reading materials and ways for you to improve.
- They are a listening ear, do not interrupt, and are empathetic towards your struggles.
- Have lots of knowledge in the desired field.
- They value different perspectives and don’t shoot down your ideas (unless they have a reason to).
- Honest.
- Non-judgemental.
- Good at giving honest and sincere constructive feedback.
6. Stay Informed About AI Trends
Knowledge is power, but without action, knowledge is useless. You must learn new things, and then find ways to implement them into your life so they become useful to you rather than some obscure idea.
Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI technology and its impact on various industries. Subscribe to AI-focused publications, podcasts, and forums to keep your knowledge current. YouTube is brimming with new updates, examples, and news around the AI hype. Find a group that shares updates with each other so that you get news from all corners rather than the famous echo chamber.
7. Consider a Career Pivot
Exploring new opportunities once you have learned the necessary skills and followed our advice above, can set you on a new and fulfilling career path.
Evaluate your existing skills and how they can be transferred to AI-related roles. Take what you’ve learned and see how you can apply it to be of use for other people. We highly recommend starting your own business but are not opposed to working for someone long enough to learn the ropes, before going off on your own (make sure you have savings from step #2 beforehand). Don't be afraid to pivot to a new career path that aligns with the AI-driven future.
8. The Potential for Success
The promise of wealth and achievement is there for the taking. Men have been waiting years for a new opportunity like this…do not let it slip through your fingers, or else risk living the same way you have been and never going to the next level.
Remember that AI offers not just challenges but also tremendous opportunities. Those who invest in AI skills today can become leaders in AI-driven industries, potentially experiencing significant financial success and job satisfaction. Men have this desire to lead, to be part of something great, and to make lots of money. This can be exactly what you are looking for and can make you part of the next generation of the uber-wealthy.
The AI revolution is upon us, and it's imperative to act now.
By embracing these steps above, you can position yourself for a rewarding future in the AI-driven world. Remember, the next successful entrepreneur or industry leader could be you. Embrace the change, equip yourself with the right skills, and seize the opportunities that AI has to offer. Your journey to success begins today.
